My Inspirations
Through the practice of Shamanism, the study of mythologies, and observation of ancient animistic rituals in Mexico, South America, Central America and Asia, I began to notice a strong connection between mythological characters and Jungian archetypes. A theme emerged in the first "Journey of the Hero", 1990,which was inspired by a Shamanic journey. In this painting,the archetypal hero stands at the edge of the forest, (I call the Bone Forest),-symbol of his unknown, confronted by Death- symbol of the fear of the ultimate unknown.
